Eustratia Lingerie

I don’t often feature shoots on here that I have not conceptualised myself, but I also seldom shoot in black and white, and thought these images were sufficiently different from anything I would normally post, to leave room for you to admire them and the lingerie, as well as whatever I decide to do with it next.

The set was shot as part of Alexander Bather’s “Night diary” exhibition last year and was arranged in collaboration with Vauhaus model agency, who also allowed their HQ to become the backdrop.

Some of you may remember, I released several bras with my Vanguard collection last year. I initially intended them to be worn more as tops but soon decided it would be better to make bottoms to go with them, so they can also be worn as lingerie, in a set.

I didn’t have much time to design before the shoot so I made two out of three styles on the day. Hazel had already ordered a set from me and had requested something that matched the bra with lots of straps, which I think I delivered. Lia wanted to wear a high waisted brief so just used the same fabrics and details as the bra and created something in that style. For the third set, I decided to make a thong for variety, without knowing who the model would be at the time.

I was quite pleased with how the came out for a first attempt, though I have now made adjustments and changed some of the details. I look forward to showing you the final versions in a photoshoot at some point soon. 9Q4A5214

In the past, I probably never would have thought that pairing a t-shirt with a pleated chiffon maxi skirt was a good idea but recently I’ve been updating the categories I mentally assign clothing to.

I wanted a comfortable but striking outfit to attend a friend’s birthday drinks and this was definitely a hit.

The wedge trainers perfectly marry the contrasting elements and the accessories add the right amount of edge.

Eustratia winter collection preview.

For the past few months, I have been thinking, making and planning  for the Eustratia  A/W ’14-15 collection.

As an independent designer, single-handedly running all aspects of the business, making a new collection can be hard. I make one item at a time whenever I have some hours spare in between the rest of my work.

An image or item I make for myself usually sparks the idea and then I make a rough line-up sketch, which usually evolves as I start to create the garments.

I usually plan my collections around a theme and often base my editorials on a still from a dream but this time I wanted to tell a more complete story.

I always plan the concept and style my own collection shoots as well as making all the props, often with the help of my friends. This time, I decided to go one step further and do the photography myself as well.

This was a big decision for me as I’m not a photographer but so far I think it has helped me get closer to my vision by having control over the composition of the images and the ability to edit them myself.  Of course it’s every designer’s dream to own copyright to their images and I look forward to featuring them on my promotional material.

I used a variety of props for the fashion story and shot it in 3 parts to make sure it went smoothly.

915679_1525838860966017_1775423054_nCut out butterflies and moths were used for the moth bodysuit images. These were lovingly cut out by my intern, Lindsay.

10475008_299153160256627_2104034801_nWire butterfly headpieces were used in a couple of sets to give the impression of butterflies hovering around the model’s heads.

The Collection is due to launch on the 1st of September  on www.eustratia.co.uk and will be showcased several times over the weekend of the “fashion and lifestyle exhibition” in a theatrical live fashion show.

During the show, there will be a slideshow featuring snippets from the fashion story, inspirational images and these little videos I took while shooting:

I hope you enjoy this collection as much as I do and look forward to seeing the rest of the story.

Bubble Pop Sunset

I’m delighted to be able to share with you, the first shoot of the summer and my latest collaboration with Vauhaus.

The wardrobe is from the reflections collection as well as some extra pieces I made for a fashion show at Regress back in March. The unicorn necklaces are part of an upcoming Eustratia range due to be released very soon!

41I was adamant we needed the clouds and sunset in the background so Toria directed us to the perfect roof carp park. As we got to the top however, the fire alarm started to go off and we narrowly avoided having to leave. I’m so glad we didn’t though as we manged to get these amazing images.

48Brights, bubble-guns and latex-clad heroins. What more could you want from a shoot?
