Eustratia Open house event.

Next month, to celebrate the third birthday of my label, Eustratia and officially test out my showroom I’m hosting my first open house event.

The whole house will be open to friends of the brand, models, photographers and potential customers who will be able to view and try on samples, preview the new collection, talk to me in person and find out about upcoming projects.

Regular Eustratia models will be available to talk about wearing latex to those who haven’t tried it before or would like to know a bit more about it.

Our friends from VAUHAUS will also be in attendance with beautiful new faces to introduce and a guest photobooth by Toria Brightside, agent and chief photographer.

Richard Ayres will be showcasing his bespoke chainmail accessories and visitors will have the change to see it in person and talk about about commissions.

TG Manchester promoter Frankie Knuckles will also be making an appearance for those who would like to find out about future events.

I will be inviting creatives that have collaborated with the brand over the last three years, local models, photographers and industry people as well as a few magazines but the event is also geared towards potential customers who want to find out more about the brand or latex clothing in general. Please get in touch if you can get to Manchester and would like to attend. The address will be available on the Facebook event page and there will also be transport available from Piccadilly train station at 2:30pm to bring people to the event if they are not local to Manchester.

Andrew Farrington for Practical photography magazine.

A few weeks ago I worked on a shoot with Andrew Farrington and a great team. We shot in an ornately decorated room of a quirky museum and next to taxidermy and suits of armour.

Andrew was interviewed for practical photography magazine and part of the shoot was featured alongside his interview on the “learn photography now” disc that accompanies the magazine.

Showroom trial

Yesterday I set up the showroom in my new house for the first time. I haven’t had the time or money to get everything I need need yet so I was expecting it to look very incomplete but was pleasantly surprised and can already see it’s potential.

rail 2I have been toying with the idea of holding an open house event in February for the Eustratia third birthday and seeing the garments laid out has definitely made me feel more confident about the idea. I think the room lends it’s self well to this sort of roll.

tree1Of course it is close to Christmas and I do have the tree up, which won’t be a permanent fixture but I have thought of something equally as lovely to replace it when the time comes.

ARMCHAIRSome of the drama in the room is definitely due to my new acquisition, this ornate armchair. I have dreamed of having a chair like this for years and was planning to repaint and reupholster it but I posted a picture on instagram this morning and a lot of people seem to think it should stay gold…

SOFAtable 2TABLEI like the idea of having a space that is beautifully laid out where people can browse products and try stuff on in a comfortable way, while chatting to their friends, maybe taking a snap or two. I think people like visiting boutiques but fear shop assistants asking them what they want or trying to convince them to buy so I hope that creating a more relaxed atmosphere, not so centered on direct purchase will make it a more enjoyable experience for everyone.

The space and layout still needs work and my pictures don’t do it justice but customers who live in/visit Manchester are welcome to book an appointment and come round for tea and a fitting, to see their favourite items in person or even just to get measured for their order.

Details for the upcoming open house event will follow early next month and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Home shooting for Rebelicious

I’ve wanted to set up a mini photo studio in my house for a few years but never really had the space until recently. A few months ago I bought myself a simple lighting and backdrop set up and decided to try out shooting from home.

Aside from product shots which are really useful for my business, I also shot some model product shots with the help of my boyfriend, Richard Ayres, also a designer who frequently needs shots of his new items. The first shoot we need was very casual but we still got a couple of nice images.

natural 2headpiece smallglasses sideWe put slightly more effort into the second shoot, used an outfit from my Persephone lingerie range as well as the headdress Rik made me for my birthday and the latexlace cat ears and ended up with quite a sleek set.

flowers 1smallflowergirl2smallflowers4 smallflowers3smallWe shot this set around Halloween so I did a fun version with a drawn on cat nose as well.

catI was quite please with the set overall so I decided to send it to Rebelicious magazine and they published it alongside a short interview.

I also used one of the image to form the basis of the Regress flyer and the new Eustratia pocket mirror.
