Windy walk

Last weekend, we had a shift in the weather that showed us autumn is really here! So much so, that my big coat made its seasonal debut! It hasn’t been as cold again since, but it has definitely got me thinking more about my autumn/winter wardrobe and what I need to add to it.

I decided to bring Charlie along because any opportunity for him to get out more is good, although he didn’t appreciate the slower walk, or the pausing to take pictures…

All the items shown in this post have been in my wardrobe over a year (some for 3!) and I’m still just as excited to wear them as I was when I got them, I aim to make most, if not all my purchases from now on, items that I will love for years to come.

I find that I prefer autumn fashion. The shops seem to stock items that are more to my taste and the need for extra layers allows me to indulge my love of contrasting textures. I actually can’t wait to start wearing scarves, but for now, a hat and coat in the same outfit was exciting enough.

A typical autumn, look for me, this outfit combines a more delicate, almost romantic top, with tougher “biker” style trousers, classic items such as the wool coat and the fedora with a contemporary design twist and accessories that add a bit of edge.

Sun in the field

I usually feel inspired to take pictures of my outfits when I’m going “out” to an event, for a meal, to a party or shopping but my day-to-day life doesn’t actually involve much of that. I spend the majority of my time working in my home studio and would probably be glued to my desk all day, if I didn’t have the dogs to walk!

Manchester is known for its many weather so in a lot of cases, dog-walking attire consist of waterproofs and the field I’m standing in is a swamp, so I though I’d take this opportunity to feature my  outfit on a sunny day, before the weather gets too cold!

I’m wearing some black sports leggings, which, if I’m honest, is what I wear most of the time. (I have about 5 pairs in different thicknesses to suit every type of weather!) I’ve paired them with a slouchy, ripped sweatshirts from wearall.com , my beautiful cap from Ace Vestiti and some black Nike trainers that I would definitely not be wearing if the ground was wet. Then to finish off the look, I added my custom made necklace from Richard Ayres.

My rings and septum ring don’t really ever come off, not all are linkable but some are from Dixi.

The field I am standing in is probably the only large, wild open space in my area (we have a large park and golf-courses but that’s not the same) and is currently under threat of being developed into a housing estate. We are flighting to achieve “village green” status but I’m not sure if we will and I find it sad how few people appreciate a value of such a space in the city, for the people who want to enjoy it and the wildlife that has little remaining natural habitat.

September sun

On Saturday we went on a family day out to celebrate my grandma’s birthday. We visited Bent’s garden centre, before sitting down for a lovely meal at Albert’s, one of the few restaurants that everyone in the family can enjoy equally.

While we were waiting to be served, I took the opportunity to get a few snaps of my new outfit, that was kindly sent to me from wearall.com

I have been on the lookout for some comfortable yet stylish transitional outfits and this one was just perfect for a day out where I wasn’t to feel like myself, but still be quite casual.

I paired the outfit with my go-to accessories, H&M sunglasses, H! for Henry Holland satchel and Asos boots. In recent years, I have noticed I gravitate more towards items that have a certain practicality to them, instead of just wearing things because they look interesting.

For the finishing touches, I added some silver gemstone jewellery. I felt that thin necklaces complemented this outfit better than by signature chainmail so I opted for a more delicate look this time.

August Bank holiday weekend

This August bank holiday, I mostly spent time with my family. On Sunday, I went out for brunch with my mum and her four cousins!

The weather was confusing, as it usually is in Manchester so I opted for a summery(ish) jumpsuit and shoes, teamed with some sunglasses and my favourite blazer. It was a good choice!

You May also notice I’ve had a hair colour change. I loved the silver but I had had it for about 7 years and it was time for a change. I’ve had black in past so I knew that it suited me (or so I believe) and decided it would be a good choice, as the lack of bleaching should also help the condition of my hair.

I love these items because with a few adjustments, they can be worn almost all year round.

We went to the Laundrette, a relatively new bar in Manchester, that was hosting an Ibiza style brunch, complete with sand and inflatables! There was a live saxophone player and a lady giving glitter makeovers. We enjoyed a selection garlic bread, burgers, haloumi flatbread and American style pancakes, washed down with prosecco and cocktails!

I hope you enjoyed your bank holiday weekend, whatever you got up to! Let me know in the comments!
