Shooting for Coco and Max Melbourne

In January, I was sent a selection of wonderful garments to shoot by my friends at Coco and Max and with the weather finally starting to warm up over here, I thought it was the perfect time to share with you all.

coco 3My first set featured the Geo pop leggings in white/pink.  I paired them with a floaty open shoulder top from my own label, Eustratia and some gemstone necklaces. Anyone who reads this blog can probably guess I don’t wear much pink and I don’t usually go for these shiny looking leggings but the quality and fit on these are amazing, they feel cool rather than sweaty and the waistband and seams are super comfortable.

For my second look, I wore the Geo skull bather. This has recently been reduced on the website as it’s now winter in Australia, giving all you northern hemisphere readers the perfect chance to snap one up. The print is so detailed and magical and despite it being white, it will not become see-though when wet due to the amazing pink lining (though it also comes in black). A close up of the print can be found on my instagram, here.

I paired the bathers with the dragonfly poncho in white. Beautifully draped, it provides the right amount of protection from the sun, while still keeping you cool.

I love dragonflies so the print is an added bonus for me and will definitely be debuting this at the beach very soon!

For the final part of the shoot, I wore my absolute favourite piece from the range, the crystal leggings. I love knee pad details and these lightly padded, crystal heart shaped ones are so unique! The leggings are made of liquid foil effect 4 way stretch fabric and offer a comfortable fit with just the right amount of support.

I also tried the leggings with a more casual look, pairing them with my limited edition crystal heart t-shirt and some large headphones.

I had loads of fun shooting these and am glad to have found another great indie label with high quality, original and ethical products. Every garment is proudly 100% manufactured in Melbourne, to support fair local trade.

Supporting smaller labels is great for the economy and means more people can survive doing what they love. I always believe it’s better to have an eclectic selection of special items that you enjoy wearing than a sea of generic mass produced garments that make you feel like you have nothing to wear.

Eustratia Spring/Summer ’14

The Eustratia S/S “14 Collection is finally complete and I’m really pleased with it. It will be making its catwalk debut at Manchester fashion week on Saturday and the products will be added to the online store over the next few days.

The collection consists of 8 outfits, in varying levels of wearability and extravagance, but with a consistent embodiment of the essence of Spring.

I also made the backdrop myself and will try and remember to post some info on its construction soon.

Thanks to Richard Ayres for shooting this for me.

Flower tribe.

I’ve been inspired to create a pastel image set with with tribal influences for nearly a year now and finally had some free time to play around. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to use some of my new Bodyjewelleryshop.com pieces in a shoot.

I love trying out new types of body jewellery and the items featured in this set are some of my current favourites.

Most of these where sent to me by Bodyjewelleryshop.com (which was super nice of them) but I also included a couple of items from my personal collection, as I do use their site frequently.

To complete the look I added an oversized jewellery set I made myself out of latex, faux pearls and flowers. Though I make stuff nearly every day, I still enjoy putting together costume pieces for shoots and shows.

The flower harness and stripey bralet are part of the upcoming spring range for Eustratia and should be on sale in the near future. I’d love to know what you think of them!

Persephone lookbook shoot

I can finally share the lookbook images from my most recent Eustratia collection, Persephone. Persephone is my first lingerie range and I’m really pleased with it, I think all the outfits are equal, despite their differences and I really couldn’t choose a favourite. I chose the name to reflect the half dark, half light element or range and the natural influences that occur throughout.

This shoot was brought together by an amazing team and I’m very lucky to have had them all on board, especially since I pulled the shoot together in a short amount of time.

Summer hair inspiration 2013

The weather has been so cold around here recently that I’m pretty sure summer is canceled this year. I’m actually pretty sure I haven’t gotten any proper wear out of my summer clothes in the 9 years I’ve been living in the UK. Maybe London was a bit better but Manchester is pretty grey and wet.

All of this serves to make holidays more exciting. Last year I was so desperate to get away that I didn’t put much effort into my appearance and I regretted it when I saw the pictures. I was most unhappy with my hair on/after the beach so I decided to have a think about some interesting hair styles that might also look good when my hair is wet and after my it has faded from the sun/sea. It’s really difficult to maintain light coloured hair in that sort of climate.
