Current obsessions #15

current obsessions #15This week I’m continuing with the decorating inspiration, though I have got my tree up and have bought most of my presents. I’m also looking to the future, with the realisation that the year is almost over and I should probably get planning my large projects for 2014!

e9eea8e060f311e3a076122b2a59491d_8I also managed to get my tree up. It isn’t as big or elaborate as the ones in my inspiration pictures but I’m quite pleased with it. I made some of the left over perspex jewellery into decorations and also used fake fur from last year’s winter wonderland show, roses from the Opulence collection shoot and lace trim from the “origin of monsters” editorial to give it a personal touch.

When I was younger I always enjoyed the fact that our family Christmas tree was covered in miss-matched decorations, each telling a story so I wanted to incorporate objects that evoke memory into my decorating as well.

Dark unicorn inspiration

Those of you who have been following my blog for while will have seen the unicorn inspiration board that I posted last year. I’ve been wanting to do a dark unicorn shoot for a while now and have finally managed to arrange it with photographer Jamie Mahon, who’s dark aesthetic should fit the theme perfectly.

I gathered my initial inspiration on a board and I’m excited to see how the ideas evolve from there.

My wardrobe for the shoot is being provided by Eustratia and Richard Ayres and I’m also using some accessories by Sophie Adamson.

Anniversary giveaway!

My label, Eustratia has now officially been trading for a year so I’m going a little giveaway to celebrate!

I’m thankful for all the support I’ve had throughout the last year from friends and people who enjoy my work. I hope by label will continue to grow and give me the opportunity to make more of my ideas come to life.

I thought it would be fitting that the prize be items from Eustratia so I have included a selection of accessories worth just over £100.

  • Black and white striped hair bow (medium)
  • black pussy bow neck tie
  • 3-piece Perspex set. Short antler trophy necklace (used in the aesthetic contradiction logo), long arctic fox necklace and moth pin.
  • standard fingerless gloves
  • bow cuff
  • striped folded flower
  • The winner will also receive a discount code granting them 20% off their next order from Eustratia.

I tried to pick a popular colour combo but there may be replacements available for the bow cuff and flower if any other colours we have in stock would suit you better.

Deer Series

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and is looking forward to the new year (hopefully with some exciting parties)!

We recently shot the last part of my accessories project with Jennifer Byron photography and the outcome of one of the sets were these (quite festive) deer characters.

All the accessory shoot sets were planned out at the same time (September) so it was quite a lucky coincidence that the deer ones happened to fall in december. This gave me an excuse to include some of the new winter accessories that weren’t originally going to be part of the shoot.

Cold deer

I had this glitter tears idea ages ago and tried it for a different shoot but it didn’t really work so I’m glad it came out well in these.

Blood deer

I actually used a glitter glue pen for the tears on this one, it was the best looking red glitter I could find but was quite stingy so I wouldn’t recommend wearing it for too long.

Dark deer

I have a few dark images that are kind of similar so I tried to pic something different for this one with a softer and more animated pose.

Notice the Aesthetic contradiction logo necklace? I’m planning a little giveaway for these soon. All other accessories (excluding the body jewellery :p) can be purchased at www.eustratia.co.uk!

Antlers are made to order, please email enquiries@eustratia.co.uk for details.

Best wishes for the new year,
